Menopause is a natural condition that affects all women at some stage of their life and approximately 80% have symptoms related to their menopause. Coping with menopausal symptoms at work can be difficult and many women are reluctant to talk to their employer about it considering the subject “taboo”. The average age of menopause is 51 years, this is often an age when women have more senior and stressful jobs that can sometimes be challenging to handle alongside menopause symptoms. Since women represent nearly half of the labor force, we need to shift our thinking and start considering menopause as mainstream and as important as any other occupational health issue.
Through active coaching support, organizations and individuals can begin to realize benefits in productivity, work culture, life, and the bottom line, when menopausal transition is addressed specifically.
If you stay silent, you are reinforcing the taboo and ambiguous attitude that currently exists.

The workshop Menopause matters was an eye opener for me, unexpectedly. Before I joined I didn’t know to what extent I didn’t know much about menopause. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my mother, my mother-in-law or women in my family who had gone through this period didn’t experience much negative effects. They seemed to say that it went like a charm... and this was not my case. It took me a while to understand or consider that maybe what I was going through was not really « my fault » or because I was tired, or getting old...
"To my surprise my gynecologist was not helpful neither... she gave me some pills, and never really explained or took the time to understand what I was going through."
"Although the workshop was not very long, it really helped to understand and learn many things. It was also the first time I was in a circle of women who was experiencing something similar, and it felt OK, it was a safe environment."
"I wish I would have learned this earlier, it would have saved me some sleepless nights, feelings of guilt, feelings of not being understood, and uneasiness in several instances."
